Hello Logan Family!

I am honored and excited to be your new principal. This year has gotten off to a great start with only awesome things to come. Our dual-language program continues to grow and our arts partnerships with the Creative Network are flourishing. This year students have the opportunity to take dance, choir, and instrumental music.

Our 2017–2018 CAASPP and ELPAC test results are in and there is reason to celebrate many students Meeting/Exceeding standard and many who showed improvement. As a school, we have a lot of work ahead to see increased achievement in math and English. Both subjects are foundational to success in other content areas such as science, history, art, and even physical education.

This year Logan’s teaching and learning will be centered around two strategies: Student Discussions and Participation and Purposeful Instructional Groups. These instructional practices will support students with processing what they are being taught and articulating their understanding in various formats and mediums.

As the newly named Logan Academy of Global Ecology we will continue to build on our science curriculum, science-based community partnerships, and investing in new equipment for our science lab.

Logan’s Keys to Success” are Caring, Citizenship, Responsibility, Respect, and Trustworthiness. As your principal, I challenge all students, parents, teachers, and staff to uphold and model these principles on a daily basis. Only then will we truly shine and be a successful learning community.

Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and open hearts. Let’s make
2018 – 2019 a fantastic school year.

Go Lions! Let’s Roar!

During the past sixteen years, I have worked in four schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. I have served as a science teacher, a department chair, a science lead teacher, a magnet coordinator, and currently, I am the Assistant Principal at the Logan Academy of Global Ecology (TK-8).

As the son of Mexican immigrants and the first in my family to graduate from college, I believe passionately in the transformative ability of schools to improve the lives of children. I was drawn to teaching and educational leadership because I believe that all people who work in schools must collaborate to provide safe and clean campuses and ensure excellence in teaching and learning for all students.
